End of Life Services & Pet Euthanasia

Quiet room

As a pet owner, deciding on euthanasia for your beloved pet is a difficult decision and one that you should not have to make alone. Our staff and veterinarians are dedicated to helping you through this transition. We have seen your pets grow, helped them thrive and maybe helped them get through difficult situations. Our entire team is honoured to help you and support you through this end of life transition. During a visit with your veterinarian your pet's quality of life, as well as your concerns and wishes can be discussed in an open and compassionate conversation.

"How will I know when it's time?"

You are an integral part of the decision making process and we value your assessment of your pet. Together we will always make decisions in your pet's best interest. We are proud to be able to provide you and your family with a quiet, peaceful and private environment in which to say goodbye in a way that meets your wishes and your pet's needs.

Even in the face of severe disease and a grave prognosis, the decision to euthanize a pet is never an easy one. In particular, it’s the “How will I know it’s time?” that most people struggle with the most. Our staff and veterinarians are here to help you through this very difficult decision. Here are some of the services we provide during this very difficult time:

  • Quality of life assessments and counselling
  • Palliative care and pain management
  • Quiet room available for your privacy and comfort
  • Patient sedation prior to all euthanasia
  • Variety of aftercare options for your special companion

It is difficult to let go of a beloved pet, but sometimes it is the best option for both the pet and the owner. We found the following tale to be helpful for pet owners who are considering the need for end of life services and pet euthanasia in North Bay.

Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
